Recommendations for a good meat grinder?
Recently saw the Jamie Oliver special where he talked about how U.S ground meat now sometimes contains something called Pink Slime (leftover meat generally used for dog food and contains e coli etc is washed with Ammonia and then added to ground beef). It got me to thinking I’d rather grind my own hamburger but am not sure which meat grinder to get. I initially wanted to get a Meat Grinder Attachment for my kitchenaid mixer but saw a few reviews of people saying they were getting metal shavings in the meat. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone else have any recommendations for a good meat grinder ( not interested to buy a super expensive professional grinder ). I am not opposed to the hand grinders if it isn’t one that will rust.

I use an ALFA MC5, not expensive (relatively). It is a work horse, it can handle anything you throw at it quickly, had a purge feature in case something gets stuck, comes with sausage making accessories, different coarse grind wheels, well built, nice sleek design. I use it to make my cats raw food, it grinds bone and all with no hesitation.
