Idea’s on what my Electric bill may be?
I know it’s tough to guess but I just want some random idea’s on what to expect. It’s a 1 bedroom cottage 70 miles north of NYC. Just renovated (cheaply but it was), claimed to be insulated well, No trees really. Other then outlets and lights it’s used for Base Board heat. I don’t like A/C much but one ceiling fan runs on low alot, good about turning lights out but use toaster oven everyday and a big screen TV 4-5 hrs a day and the same for my laptop. New fridge but it’s always empty. lol. I do have some curly fry bulbs but not sure if they even work. Other then that I’m not home or asleep. Yes I live alone, have a cat but she’s don’t use that stuff.
PS. it’s a new digital meter that counts usage, if I watch that I can guess myself, but don’t know pricing. i.e. meter says 500 I may get a bill for $50, or meter says 1000 bill may be $100. sort of thing. or worse yet $1 a kw, I’ll just shut it off now. Thanks all

Just to help give you some helpful handy tips to keeping your bill staying down are: After you’ve used up any gallon’s of milk, or if you have any neighbors who may have some empty’s you can have, fill them with water and place them in both your fridge and freezer, to take up space… This not only keeps the refrigerator bill down but it also will be useful for not waisting electricity, as well as keeping your freezer from needing to be defrosted come shopping day. Lights do not hardly use much wattage. Your big screen TV, wont even make much of a dent on your light bill so long as you dont keep turning it off and on every time you come and go, (so I’ve heard, anyway) my Mom has a big screen TV, she keeps on practically 24/7 because she’s a single senior and doesn’t really have a social life. She’s also handicapped. And she also has a 3 bedroom 2 bath, with a family room and washroom, for laundry and her light bills are always around a little more than mine are. Okay, you have no clue where or probably what I’m talking about because we live nowhere around New York first and foremost. But, some other helpful hints, are: Turn off AC at nights and open all window’s, if you live in a safe neighborhood to do so… One tip besides the containers for your freezer and fridge…Fans of any kind are not going to use much wattage either. In fact, they say your main electrical expenses are the TV, Refrigerator, washer & dryers, Dish Washer’s, Using like enormous amounts of Hot water if your place is all electric, they do have hot water here in the high desert that runs on electricity, somehow we found out. Which may not be the case for you in New York, however. Oh, guess what I do, to find out how much my bills are each month, I go online and check before it even comes in the mail.. By going to their web site…….I put in my account number and around the time I pretty much know they’ve already read my meter I start getting online, and checking. You to can do this same thing.. Just find out from your first bill you receive what the web site is, and get yourself all registered up but if you dont want to pay by credit card you just make sure not to click those spot-options. Get yourself all registered and call or either look on your bill to see when your bill cycle is, and you can guess that your bill amount should be online around atleast anywhere from 2 days to 1 week before your bill is due to come in the mail by checking online for the amount. I would also put like blankets down in the winter times around any doors leading to the outdoors. To keep any drafts out, this also goes for summertimes if it gets pretty hot where you live in the summers. Placing a beach towel or cloth of some sort on the floor up against the bottom of your out going doors. I’d remove them if you have company that your not really close to so they dont take you for a misor or something to that effect. Even though nowadays we all need to be on the conservative side of life, no matter where we live! Dont you agree? Especially with this “Global Warming” getting near to all of us! Across the Globe! Okay, I surely do hope I have been of some help to you. I know for sure I cannot help you figure out your bill because of us living completely on the other side of the Map from one another! My being closest to the West Coast, and your being closest to the East Coastal area’s…..But, tips will always come in handy if your really trying to keep things down. I mean who wants to spend all of their extra money on high light bills when we can go shopping or use it for entertainment purposes, right?!! Right…. Good Luck hun!! Smile!!
